The Rolex FEI World Cup™ Finals April 18 – 22 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Las Vegas, NV – February 19, 2007 – During the Rolex FEI World Cup Jumping and Dressage Finals in Las Vegas, NV, equestrians, spectators, sponsors and guests will dance the night away at Divas Las Vegas, an all-out concert and celebrity dance party. Held on April 20, 2007, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Divas Las Vegas will feature live performances from celebrated divas who have topped the music charts time and time again. Presented by Offield Farms and Rivers Edge, with entertainment graciously sponsored by Zada Enterprises, LLC, the festivity will open its doors at 9:30 p.m., and all proceeds raised will benefit the Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF).
The Equestrian Aid Foundation is a non-profit organization that financially assists equestrians who are suffering from life threatening illnesses or injuries resulting from catastrophic accidents. EAF’s mission is made possible by the generosity of donors and, in large part, by the success of fundraising events.
In 1996, six-time Olympic dressage rider Robert Dover, together with R. Scot Evans, Eugene R. Mische, Mason Phelps, Jr., Robert Ross and Kim Tudor established the non-profit Equestrian AIDS Foundation (EAF). Their first board directive stated that EAF would provide direct support to equestrians living with HIV/AIDS; however, the Board of Directors later expanded the bylaws to include helping any equestrian with a life threatening illness or catastrophic injury resulting from an accident.
“Now the Equestrian Aid Foundation (EAF) goes beyond just AIDS and helps anyone with debilitating diseases within the equestrian community,” said Mason Phelps, Jr. “AIDS awareness, education and treatment have radically improved in this country since we began the foundation. The board felt it could expand its giving and resources. Because of advancements in the medical field, it’s possible for patients to maintain their health much more so than in the past,” he stated.
“In addition, there are many people in the equestrian community who are ill from other life-threatening diseases without the ability to care for themselves,” he related. “It is because of fundraisers like Divas Las Vegas that the Equestrian Aid Foundation is able to assist those who qualify. I am grateful to be a part of such a rewarding cause, and I feel EAF is something that is very deserving of our time and resources to support.”
Robert Dover, president of EAF, commented, “When asked about my career achievements, I always say the same thing: Other than my loved ones, I am most proud of my association with the Equestrian Aid Foundation. The Olympic medals are wonderful, but giving back and helping those in our community who are less fortunate has truly been an honor and a privilege.”
Robert Ross reported after an EAF meeting, “It is vital that we have the financial support for our family and friends in the equestrian world that need our help. EAF is so grateful for all the assistance we get in order to help our fellow equestrians in need.” He noted, “Kim Tudor and I are reviewing the status of five new applicants, three of whom have been paralyzed in recent riding accidents. EAF has 12 more applications out to people who need our assistance.”
Divas Las Vegas will benefit EAF and continue to increase awareness of the foundation’s mission. Come celebrate a great cause at Divas Las Vegas and enjoy live entertainment from such divas as Deborah Cox, Taylor Dayne, Jennifer Holliday, and Martha Wash. Sponsorship opportunities are currently available, as are VIP tickets, tables and seating.
